Ernesto Gismondi, Sintesi, Artemide 1975

£340.00

A 1975 first edition of the iconic Sintesi lamp by Artemide’s founder Ernesto Gismondi. This is also the first of Gismondi’s designs to be produced under the Artemide name, even though the company was formed much earlier with Sergio Mazza in 1960. As its name suggests the Sintesi is an exceptional example of the synthesis of the modernist catechism of form and function. Composed entirely out of lacquered metal and designed to be fitted with the famous Oluce cornalux light bulb, the Sintesi was produced as a large series of lamps that covered the full range of all practical lighting applications. This example, the Sintesi faretto a morsetto (clamp spotlight), is the smaller of the two lamps produced with a clamp fixing device.

Once a contributing participant of the Memphis group, Ernesto Gismondi is a formidable figure of Italian industry, whose talents extend across engineering, design and education. He remains president of Artemide to this day.

This lamp is unused (dead stock) and comes complete with all its original packaging and instruction booklet. The sale includes a new LED (7W 900 lumen) version of the cornalux light bulb produced by German company LEDmaxx.
