Achille + Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Relemme, Flos 1962

£420.00
SOLD

For the Relemme, brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni combined the more favourable elements of two popular old lamps, a simple painted metal saucer lamp and a nineteenth century industrial lamp by RLM (Registered Luminaire Manufacturers). Produced by Flos in 1962, the design of the Relemme (which derives its name from the Italian phonetic spelling of the acronym RLM) takes the simplicity of a printed sheet metal reflector but gives the top a concave shape so as to keep the lamp holder external but keep it hidden and masked from view. With the addition of a beautiful counterweight mechanism and a rubber ring to protect the lamp from knocks, the Castiglioni brothers demonstrate their brilliance at combining the simplest materials to create sublime, functional objects.

A lamp is in mint unused condition and comes complete in its original packaging. The sale does not include the E27 light source.
