The Sisten is part of system of inter-changeable elements designed by Milanese Architect Gianni Celada to create numerous lamp configurations for wall or ceiling applications. Designed in 1973 for Fontana Arte (for which Celada was the art director at the time), the Sisten is composed of nine basic elements in chromed or lacquered metal, glass and rubber which can be combined to create 126 different lamps.
This configuration of the Sisten has an unusual flat spherical shade rather than the more traditional domed or bowl shaped shade, which can also be removed to reveal a very attractive pill shaped pendant lamp. The lamp has been fitted with a Roly rise and fall mechanism which allows the lamp to be extended up to 1.5 meters.
The lamp is in excellent condition and perfect working order. The sale does not include the light source as a number of different light bulbs with an E27 screw fitting can be used.
