Mazza + Gramigna, Lola, Quattrifolio 1974
Sergio Mazza and Giuliana Gramigna’s Lola table lamp was produced in 1974 by Quattrifolio, the company they established together in 1964. What makes the lamp distinctive is the expert combination of styles that are difficult to pin down. It contains elements that are reminiscent of art nouveau that have been moderated by modernist principles more fitting to industrial processes of production. For these reasons we could call this post modern, but it feels more than that — like Gae Aulenti’s work, of which this piece is highly evocative. The lamp formed part of a series that included adaptions for the wall and floor, and is composed of moulded acrylic shade and metal base finished in a gunmetal grey.
The lamp is in good vintage condition and perfect working order. There are 2 hairline cracks on the top of the acrylic shade and a small repair at the back around the fixing screw. There are also some light surface scratches on the circular base. The sale includes a new E27 1.5W 150 lumen LED light bulb.
