Kho Liang Ie, K-46 Low, Atelier Artiforte 1957

£940.00

The K-46 Low floor lamp is the beautifully considered reissue of the notable lamp with a lower profile by the Dutch designer Kho Liang Ie. Originally produced by Atelier Artiforte in 1957, the lamp is constructed from a steel frame in which a tubular paper diffuser is suspended and surrounds an integrated LED light source (which replaces the original fluorescent fitting). By making subtle references to his heritage, Kho Liang le has created a wonderfully simple object with an elegant narrow profile and lightweight transparent quality. The LED light source produces a soft and evenly diffused light all around the lamp, with the intensity controlled by a floor dimmer.

Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975) is most known for the interior design of the new Schiphol Airport building in 1963. He also designed the famous stackable 305 chair and completed designs for many established names like Bruynzeel and Mosa, not to mention many familiar pieces from the Artifort collection. All of which make Liang Ie one of the most important Dutch designers of the last century.

Atelier Artiforte was founded in 1930 in Rotterdam. Under the creative watch of Henk Fillekes the company had its golden age in the 1950s and 1960s with innovative lighting using new materials and techniques, and with pieces by Kho Liang Ie and the Bauhaus architect Johan Niegeman included in the collection.

The K-46 is a new edition that has been produced by Atelier Artiforte. Each piece is individually numbered and sold with certification.

The K-46 Low ships in 2-3 weeks. We will notify you with a more accurate delivery timeframe once your order is placed, or please contact us for more information.
