Boccato + Gigante + Zambusi, Totum, Zerbetto 1977
The large and imposing multi-functional Totum lamp, designed by architects Marilena Boccato, Gian Nicola Gigante and Antonio Zambusi for Zerbetto, 1977. Originally designed as part of an outdoor system of lighting, the Totem has a die-cast aluminium body with a prism polycarbonate shade that is made watertight with a rubber seal. Because of its size, the Totum has three lamp holders, which creates a perfectly even and diffuse spread of light, with the prisms of the polycarbonate shade helping to reduce and deflect any glare. The lamp was produced to be installed on ceilings, walls or fitted on a large array of supporting structures of varying heights and shapes. This example has been configured as a stand alone unit for the floor or table top but can also be fitted on a wall.
Boccato, Gigante and Zambusi were collaborating partners on a number of lighting projects for Zerbetto, a company that became well known for creating lighting systems for large indoor and outdoor spaces.
The lamp is in excellent condition and perfect working order and has been fitted with 2x E27 and 1x E14 1.5W 150 lumen LED light bulbs.
