Tommaso Cimini, Igloo, Lumina 1985

£175.00
SOLD

Designed in 1985, Tommaso Cimini’s elegant Igloo desk lamp was produced by Lumina, the lighting company Cimini founded in 1980 following the huge success of his Daphine lamp in the late 1970s. With its super slim profile and elongated contours the Igloo follows the principles firmly established with the design of the Daphine — to subordinate form to function in the expression of a simple idea: lots of light, not much lamp. The Igloo is composed of lacquered metal in a slightly off-white tone, with a metal lattice structure covering an aluminium reflector and bakelite lamp holder. A plastic elbow and swivelling joint at the base allows the lamp to be articulated in multiple ways. Part of a series of lamps, the Igloo was produced as a floor and ceiling lamp, including numerous variations for use on a desk or table. This example is the mid-size version of the three lamps that were produced with a clamp fixing mechanism.

The lamp is in very good condition and perfect working order. There are a few chips and scratches to the paint, but nothing that is not consistent with its age. The sale includes a new E27 4W 470 lumen LED light source.
