Barbieri + Marianelli, Bulbo Table Lamps, Tronconi 1981

£330.00
SOLD

A fine pair of table lamps designed by Raul Barbieri and Giorgio Marianelli for Tronconi in 1981. With its modest dimensions, a body composed of fluted aluminium and a diffuser in translucent glass, the Bulbo is a charming table lamp that casts a very nice soft and muted light. Tronconi produced many variations of the lamp over the years for different applications with a larger version called Bulbone.

Raul Barbieri and Giorgio Marianelli met while working at Olivetti’s industrial design department under the direction of Ettore Sottsass and shortly after, in 1974, established their own practice, Barbieri e Marianelli Architetti. The pair worked on a number of lighting projects with Tronconi especially in the 1980s.

The lamps are in excellent working order and there is no damage to any of their visible parts. There are some scratches on the base and one of the lamps has a large chip on the bottom part of the glass diffuser. But this is not visible once the diffuser has been locked into place. The light source, 2 new E14 2.5W 250 lumen LED bulbs, is included in the sale.
